International Mother Earth Day was celebrated at Bhavan’s Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir with a seminar, planting of trees and an exhibition. The students took an oath to plant at least five saplings of air-purifying plants such as aloe vera, neem and basil by the end of the monsoon. Students of Class IX displayed and demonstrated models on e-waste management. Students of the primary section took part in a sit-and-draw competition.

Psychiatrist Sanjay Garg conducted a workshop on child safety and security for the teachers of Indus Valley World School. Garg stressed the role of teachers and the school in helping a child feel secured. Anxiety disorders, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, mood disorder, autism and sexual abuse were some of the topics dealt with. The workshop ended with an interactive session.

Paddler Sutirtha Mukherjee, part of the gold-winning India team at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games, visited her alma mater St Luke’s Day School.
